Back to School

We are already nearing the end of August, and schools all across the country are moving forward on starting school however they feel is best. The decision on what to do with your kids is not made lightly and is complicated to say the least. I imagine many parents are frozen with decision fatigue and overwhelmed with the continued struggle to juggle all the responsibilities that come with working from home while your kids are home.

First let me say, you aren't crazy and you aren't alone in your many feelings - angry at the people who couldn't make sacrifices this summer to slow the spread of the virus, at the reality the virus is still a thing infecting and killing people daily, at the sweet precious angel child who has asked you one time too many what's for dinner; sorrowful that your kids are starting milestone school years by grabbing a poptart and walking to their rooms, that you aren't able to sign up the fam for all their favorite activities that are life giving,  that you can't just call a friend to go grab coffee without the pre-requisite background check (where have you been going, who have you seen, do you wear a mask); overwhelmed that you and your partner are the only adults speaking into your kids life when they usually have access to teachers, coaches, friends parents, church friends who give them balanced perspective, that 5+ months later you are still constantly faced with decisions that make you choose between the social/emotional/mental health versus the physical health of your family. It's a lot. One piece of this big puzzle that I can help with is giving you some tips to get set up for success as you embrace your new life as a virtual school facilitator or homeschool parent. At the end of last school year we were all just trying to get through and survive, but with no pandemic end in sight as we start this fresh academic year, some new structure and routine will be needed. I'm available for consulting (and emotional support) phone calls to help you talk through what you will need to start right. Click on the contact page if you are interested!
